If you are looking for a particular drafting symbol, there are a wide variety of software packages that provide just about any drafting symbol and drafting standard you could imagine.

Electrical Symbol Library

The Electrical ANSI Y32.2 library includes bells, buzzers, horns, signal lights, capacitors, resistors, disconnects, fuses and circuit breakers along with pressure, limit, float and pull cord switches. Relay coils, contacts, timers, and a wide range of 1, 2, & 3 pole combination starters are included. Induction and commutator motor symbols, transformers, logic elements and a small selection of solid state devices and a wide range of selector switches, complete with optional cam tables, are provided. Brief descriptions have been assigned to the symbols in the sidebar menu, wherever possible.

Since the IEC 617 Standard is metric, all symbols have been drawn to fit on ISO sized drawings. If required, the symbols can be inserted into ANSI sized drawings and then scaled down. Brief descriptions have been assigned to the symbols.

The symbols are accurately drawn on Layer 0 with a snap value of 0.2 (2.0) and a grid setting of 0.4 (8.0), depending upon the choice of Imperial or (Metric) sized drawing sheets.

Alternate partial menus are provided for use with more recent releases of AutoCAD, starting with AutoCAD R13.c4 and AutoCAD LT95. These menus are preferred, since they do not interfere with any prior menu customization and toolbar settings. They can also be used with other Autodesk products, such as Mechanical Desktop.

This symbol library is another subset of the larger library above. Version 6.5 of the Electrical Y32.2 Symbol Library contains over 650 symbols, all of which comply with the ANSI Y32.2 standard.

Electrical and Fluid Power Symbol Library

Version 6.5 of the Electrical and Fluid Power Symbol Library contains over 2650 symbols, all of which comply with the ANSI Y32.2, IEC 617 or ISO 1219 standards. Steel Shapes (U.S.) Symbol Library

Version 2.1 of the Steel Shapes (US) Symbol Library contains over 1050 symbols, all of which comply with the ISO 1219 standard. The library includes:- AISI/AISC Wide flange, I-beams, Channels,Angle, Square and Rectangular hollow sections and ANSI Schedule Pipe sections. All symbols are accessed from pull-down menus. The symbols are accurately drawn on Layer 0 in AutoCAD 13 and include center lines (where possible) on a separate layer. Partial menus are provided. These are preferred, since they do not interfere with any prior menu customization and toolbar settings. They can also be used with other Autodesk products, such as Mechanical Desktop.
